Thatching: Our Story ...

We are masters in the art of thatch roofing between us we have a vast array of experience and are now in our third generation of thatchers.

Thatched properties have been a feature of the English landscape for centuries. If you own a thatched property, you will know that the benefits extend far beyond it’s beauty. Thatched roofs provide excellent thermal insulation and make buildings cool in summer and warm in winter. They also help to reduce external noise creating a peaceful environment.

When a thatch is laid in the traditional manner it will last for up to 35 years and requires little maintenance. One of the many benefits of thatching is that a thatched property retains its value better than more conventional dwellings - so much so it has become a popular alternative on modern builds.

After many years of service, thatched roofs may need attention to bring them back to their original beauty. With modern innovations such as fire retardant treatment, thatching has come a long way and it is often possible to improve on the original roof, ensuring many more years of life and enjoyment.
